Place work is more than teaching a dog to stay on a mat — it’s about helping the nervous system down-shift, creating clarity, and building impulse control in a way dogs can actually sustain.
This is the foundation of the calm dog people are searching for — the dog who can relax at home, ignore chaos around them, think before reacting, and move through the world with steadiness and confidence.
Throughout this program, we focus on:
• Teaching clear beginnings and endings to place work
• Building duration, distance, and distractions at the appropriate pace
• Helping dogs learn how to truly relax, not just “hold it together”
• Improving impulse control and focus
• Strengthening respect and communication through handler energy and body language
This class is ideal for dogs who:
• Struggle to relax or settle
• Have difficulty disengaging from stimulation
• Become over-aroused, busy, or reactive in home or public environments
• Need clearer structure and calmer communication with their handler
